Resisting The Devil

Text: James 4:7
” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (KJV)
To resist is to keep at bay or to fend off its influence or advance, withstand the force of something. Thus to resist involves a combination of the two earlier techniques however, the goal is not to flee yourself for the adversary flees.
When the devil tries to force or influence you to act we resist, thus using our personal, emotional and social capacities to get us to do against who we are in Christ. Example with Jesus is when He resisted the devil by th e word of God, the bible recorded the devil left him for a season.
Meet the Devil; He’s Real
I’m not going to baby step around the topic of the devil; he’s real, he’s quite sneaky and he’s really adaptable to living and conquering in this world more than us Christians most times. So stop burying your head in the sand and quit pretending he does not exist.
The Devil as an adversary is in constant pursuit of man in so many ways with the sole aim of stealing, killing and destroying the soul of man. 1 Peter 5:8 says ” Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
In fact Matthew 13:25 calls him the enemy that does not sleep. He is constantly seeking to
destroy souls but the bible gave us techniques on how to deal with him. Among these techniques include to rebuke, to resist, to flee.
We rebuke him when he is acting on someone to pull us down. An example can be seen when Jesus rebuked Peter saying get thee behind me Satan; which was not directed to Peter but  on the devil acting on him or influencing him to stop the will or work of God.
Sometimes the devil can act on us to resist ourselves from doing the will of God, walk according to the word and keep us down or he can do same through acting on people close to us.
Some of the tools needed to resist the devil includes but not limited to:
1. Resistance by faith,  1 Peter 5:8
2.Resistance by the word.  Matthew 4, Rev. 12:11
3.Resistance by the reason of the blood.  Rev.12:11
4.Resistance by the Knowledge of Christ. 2 Cor. 10:4
5.Resistance by bearing the whole armor. Ephesians 6:11
6.Resistance by inner joy and peace. Isaiah 12:3
7.Resistance by the power of love. 2 Timothy 1:7
8.Resistance by submission to God.  James 4:7
We’ve Got The Power; Don’t Be Scared
Basically resisting the devil needs your understanding of who you are in Christ and what you were
redeemed and created to be, as well as recognizing your status in comparison with the devil. In the light of that it should be understood that the devil is created to be very far below the being you are created to be and does not in any way has force or power greater than yours. Let us therefore resist him at all time comes after resistance and subsequently his fleeing comes victory and the reward of victory.
Understand as well that it sometimes gets tougher mostly just at the point of breakthrough but only those that endure and resist to the end wears the crown. Let us resist therefore to stop and and deny him of his purpose which is to steal our testimony, breakthrough, joy and reward. The victory after resisting makes the time in trial just like a passing dream that worth nothing when compared to the joy and reward that comes with the victory. He is a loser just submit yourself to God, speak and resist him and he will flee from you.
Prayer: Lord Jesus I celebrate you for victory and the power given to me to resist the devil and to overcome him by stopping him from stealing my blessing. I bring every thought and things that exalt themselves above the knowledge and power of Christ in me. In Jesus name Amen.
Confession: I have power with God and I am seated far above the devil and his forces.
